At one of our most recent events, we gave away free large window sticker. Guests lined up and typed in the name of their alumni, the amazing PT-P900W printed the near footlong laminated window sticker in seconds. The print is flipped horizontally for you to adhere inside your car's rear window for a perfect look. The tape is Brother's TZe165, a 36mm White on Clear tape. Each tape can print up to 50 large stickers. The print size can be fixed or dynamic. The template is free, and is already installed in your latest Name Badge Et Al app. It is called "Window Sticker Large." You need to edit the template to select 36mm PT Tape, and choose either Brother PT-P900W or PT-P950NW printer. A user generated over $1000 revenue at a charity event by asking for $10 donation for each sticker. Do you know that you can buy them at the University store for about $15 each? Don't forget to try this event pleaser on your next event.
3x5 cards for your AirPrint printers? Not Possible? Think again. We "tricked" the printer to think it is printing on a 4x6 photo paper. Not all printers support the glider. And it prints even better than the Adobe Photoshop. You can get 1000 cards, or 10 decks for $12 from Amazon or 200 cards for $1.5 from Daiso. That is less than a penny each. We have customers using it for cue cards in addition to our famous Quick Teleprompter app. The photo here is an example of printing the agenda, along with a QR code, on a $60 HP D110 printer. Note: to print multiple copies, select number of copies from AirPrint menu, choose B/W for faster print. You can also use the thermal printers such as the RJ-3150, or the QL-710W to print something similar, on thermal paper.
Ever wonder why some of the bigger companies require you to check in at the front desk and ask you to sign an NDA and a waiver? Same reason why you probably should do the same on your next hot dog eating competition - liability. Unless you have a secret ingredient for your new hot dog, you don't need an NDA. But waiver, yay! It does not have to be a chore, and you can cover that during online sign up. But for those casual last-minute walk-ins, you might want to cover your liabilities. It also tells your attendees to exercise more care. The good news is, that the latest update, version 2.4.2, has added 2 new templates, and the support of the inimitable Pocket Jet PJ-763MFi. The printer is possibly the smallest full size portable printer in the world, a mere 1.5lbs, including the battery that lasts, forever. Some of our customers use this app for their Guest Management. Genius!!! Imagine this: guest check-in, the name badge is printed on your QL printer, the NDA or Waiver is printed on literally any printers. Guest signs and ready for the big meeting, all in less than 10 seconds.
We were helping the local community to pre-make 500 laminated name badges. We thought "since it will be laminated, why not try a generic brand?" We are so WRONG. First, they came out half way decent, bad, but not that bad. Then, guess what? After 3 days, they are all faded and have the vomit mark in most of them. Comparing to the same batch made with Brother's labels (one in the middle), it stayed perfect, black as black can be. The moral of the story? $5 savings ended up costing us 10 times more. Luckily the event is this coming Saturday. P.S. It is amazing that the Brother's thermal labels can be heat laminated. We were using the $20 Amazon Basic Laminator.
The world's 2 largest shows: CES in Las Vegas and CeBIT in Hannover (tomorrow actually) gather 250,000 attendees or more in their annual tradeshow. Although untested, this event management app "probably" can't handle that kind of crowd, yet. That would be too good to be true, right? So far however, our users have managed to support up to 1000 attendees. The 6 second check-in speed is far superior than any known system, but one of our customers managed to use the barcode scanner to check in guests in less than 1 second each. He modified the Raffle Ticket template to print the name badges, and mailed them to registrants ahead of the event. Upon arrival, he used the handheld scanner to scan the barcode, and set the app to SEARCH mode. One scan will instantly bring up the guest. He can then confirm the arrival, or enter additional information. Now, use your imagination and perhaps you too, can come up with some brilliant ideas.
Do you know that Wall Street Journal has a great section on Workplace Technology? Yesterday an article written by Alexandra Samuel spoke of "The Power of Conference in a Social-Media Age." She suggested to add a nice touch in your gatherings by giving a little sticker to your new contacts. You can be creative with your stickers by printing QR code that links to your blogs, twitter account, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, or directly to your LinkedIn profile. One of the best kept secrets of our app is the ability to print small stickers, on demand. You can create a template to print 1 or 100 small stickers using Brother's DK-2210 label rolls. It is an instant gratification, at a cost of less than a penny per sticker. Next time when you print a name tag, why not print a pack of 10 small stickers for your guest as a souvenir?
Here is a fun fact: for some reasons Brother's nomenclature for their label rolls, or even printers can be different in US vs. other part of the world. For example, the DK-22251 in UK is the same as DK-2251 in the US. That is close. But the DK-2205 in the U.S. is DK-44205 in Europe. These 2 labels are actually identical, both 62mm wide and 100ft long. Fortunately our Name Badge app does not discriminate the label rolls based on its name. So if you do not see your DK-xxxx among the list of templates, don't panic.
With the QL-820NWB or the QL-810W label printers, you can print all kind of signages for your next event. We are currently working on version 2.4 to support the printing of flexible signage. See these signs being printed and were adhered to a 30x20 poster board. Each sign can be created in less than 10 seconds. Do you know that our app supports unicode characters? To enter unicode, simply type "\uxxxx" where xxxx is the 4-digit hex numbers. For example, if you enter "\u2672 RECYCLE" under Name field and print using the sign template, it will print the second label on the top of the image above. Be creative, it can be a lot of fun.
Happy New Year! What can you do with red, black, and white? Available NOW! We quietly released the version 2.3 to support Brother's soft launch of its new QL-820NWB printer. In our latest release, you can select the new printer, choose the new label type (DK-22251 or DK-2251), and print awesome name badges in 3 colors. Customize your own badge in as little as 1 minute and it is a one-time setup. We included 3 new templates that allow you to print the name badge, event signage, and award certificates. Too good to be true? Check out the iTunes store and download the new release now.
Happy New Year 2017!!! Yay! We were invited to manage a party with people from all over the world. In addition to the international theme name badges with Brother's DK-2205 labels, we decided to add a little color to the badge. So we create a template for the Brother's J485dw printer, and using the Avery 5408 labels. With a little trial-and-error, the result is perfect, see above image on the left. Since every printer is slightly different, we made a litte adjustment and it printed also precisely on an HP D110 printer, see image on the right. People are complaining about the labels not working properly, not knowing that with our app, you can make the adjustment in just minutes.Once it is aligned, you are set for good. Happy 2017!!! Wish your business grows internationally.
